My name is Brendon, but I go by Bwendy online. I've been making video games for my entire adolescent life up to now. In 2023, I launched Faraway Studios, what was then a parternship with my lifelong friend Fivel. There are now three/four of us (depending on the day lol). I also do some web-development, and I solo-developed the steam game RTS Football. I also like Adventure Time, a lot.
The upcoming first title under the Faraway Studios umbrella is the story-driven, fast paced action-roguelike Gladiator's of Roma Revixit. I serve a number of roles at any given point, I am a project director, the head developer / game designer / story-writer / occasional pixel artist. A jack of all trades if you will.
My mom teaches students with dyslexia at various levels of reading. I heard that a particular student was resistant to learning, so I sought to make something that could both appeal to students, be fun/interesting to use, and actually supplement reading learning. There are a number of AI storytelling games, wherein the AI and the user take turns writing various parts of the text. The idea was "basically that" ™, in combination with a number of reading tools (I.e breaking the words comprising the AI-Student colloborative narrative into parts, making it easier to read and presumably learning the sounds that make up those words)
A solo-project of my mine, RTS Football is a unique take on the real-time-strategy genre, where you control giant mechs that just so happen to be playing football.
It was a lot of fun working as the developer on the Faraway Studios entry into the 2024 discord game jam, along with my friend Fivel working on the art, and my friend Sophie on the keys.
A compendium of some of my pixel art. Still new to pixel art, so...yeah.
